I was new to my neighborhood and had only been attending my new church for a few weeks when I met Dee, who lived on the same street.
Dee and I sat together in church because our husbands didn't attend church regularly. Living close to each other, we started taking walks and praying for our husbands as we walked. We often quoted and believed the words of Jesus in Matthew 18:19: . . . if two of you shall agree on earth as touching, any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
We became prayer partners, praying for our husbands' spiritual needs and almost always shedding tears. We were so blessed and encouraged as we shared our commitment of prayer for our husbands. It was reassuring to know that someone understood my struggle as a believing wife.
My spirit was stirred as I noticed the other women in our church who were "spiritually single". Do they have prayer partners? I wondered.
I thought of Moses trying to hold up the rod and when he became tired, other people held his arms up. Who was holding up the arms of these women?
I began to feel the leading of the Lord to "hold up their arms", and we started praying on Sunday nights for our husbands' spiritual needs. Our loneliness and aching hearts melted in that time of prayer and it was such a blessing to us. I anticipated that prayer time every week.
This is the 10th year that I have been involved in this unique ministry, and in 2007 the web site, "Divided Heart Ministry" was born, based on a phrase in Hosea 10:2,Their heart is divided. It has been and still is, a labor of love. Although God has given me countless scriptures, and the Holy Spirit has incessantly inspired in this ministry, I still believe and am holding onto the promise of Matthew 18:19: ". . . if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven."
Jecoliah
I have chosen the name "Jecoliah" to use on this web site to protect my husband's privacy on the internet. "Jecoliah" is a Hebrew name for it is Jehovah who enables - and He does!
